“Breathe in the Fresh Air” – Chats: Strache is on recoloring requests in the ORF

Date:

Former FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache is quite open about his former desires as vice-chancellor to gain more say in the public ORF. “If something is colored, then it is certainly partly a recolor or a neutralization,” he said on the program “Milborn” on PULS 24 on Wednesday.

Strache feels sorry for ORF TV News editor-in-chief Matthias Schrom, who had to resign because of the chat affair. Schrom had made public chats with Strache fatal as of 2019. At the time, as editor-in-chief of ORF2, he exchanged thoughts with the politician about the content of the ORF report and personnel requests from the FPÖ.

Ex-vice-chancellor says he never intervened
Schrom (pictured below) was “a really impartial journalist,” Strache said. According to his own statement, the former vice-chancellor has never intervened in the media. However, he said he always used his legitimate right to file a complaint.

Breaking down certain structures in the ORF has always been a requirement, Strache said. The FPÖ leader and vice-chancellor, who resigned in the course of the Ibiza affair, once again lamented “a very one-dimensional published opinion”.

Wanted to bring “fresh air” to the ORF
In response to alleged red-and-black constructs, including under former ORF general manager Alexander Wrabetz, they wanted to “bring fresh air in”. The goal was reform, but also personnel changes, Strache said.

The conversation with Strache will be broadcast on PULS 24 and ZAPPN on Wednesday at 9.20 pm.
