The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Azpiazuhas called a third meeting for opposition groups – Vox has been excluded – to further negotiate the draft budget for 2023. This new round of meetings will take place next Tuesday, November 22, as indicated by the executive.
This much EH Bildu (1 p.m.) as PP+Cs (5 p.m.) have confirmed their presence, awaiting the response from Elkarrekin Podemos-IU (4 p.m.).
The Basque government insists that, despite a sufficient majority to approve the bills, “remains open to extending support” beyond the votes of the two government partners. It does this, he assures, “without vetoes or red lines other than those corresponding to the exercise and realistic budget projection, as well as to the area of competence of the Basque Parliament and Government”.
The second, and for now last encounter It took place last Wednesday. After the meeting, the three opposition groups assured that the agreement was “far off” due to Azpiazu’s refusal to tackle a tax reform. EH Bildu parliamentary spokesman Maddalen Iriarte promised to analyze the Basque government’s counter-offer for games for 54 million, although she was sceptical. Miren Gorrotxategi (Elkarrekin Podemos-IU) spoke out in the terms, which spoiled the Executive’s proposal to assume an increase of only 0.2%. Finally, PP+Cs believed that the executive still has “room to manoeuvre” in committing to tackling a tax reform as part of the budget negotiations.
