SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner will have to change her daily commute in the future – after months of debate, the party will move out of its legendary party headquarters near Vienna’s Ringstrasse.
As the party has confirmed to the APA, they have now decided to leave Löwelstrasse in Vienna. There have long been considerations in that direction. The new location is not fixed. The market is currently being explored and there is no time pressure.
Move together with the SPÖ Vienna
Concrete options will in any case be discussed in the first quarter of 2023. The move is a joint project of the federal party and the SPÖ Vienna, which is also located in Löwelstrasse.
For a long time, the headquarters was considered outdated in terms of office space. In addition, a necessary renovation would devour too much money. The disadvantage for the SPÖ is that it also loses the low rent that was previously paid for a building in the city center.
The rent has recently been reduced
As you know, the rental price for the property has actually fallen in recent years – in concrete terms, despite the exclusive location, the costs were only around 12,000 euros per month. The reason for this was a re-measurement – this showed that the property is smaller than originally stated. The exodus is also bitter for traditionalists. The SPÖ has been housed in Löwelstrasse since 1945.
