NEOS is demanding countermeasures from the state government due to the dizzying developments in the housing market.
Affordable living space – for many this sounds like a beautiful utopia. It often has nothing to do with reality. Just two days ago, the Vorarlberg People’s Party proposed a package of measures to help young people in particular to acquire real estate. The focus was on adjustments to rent subsidies and instruments for spatial planning.
But it is not only the real estate market that is overheating, the rental sector is also not doing any better. On the contrary, this will be cultivated even more in the future – precisely because hardly anyone can afford to own real estate. For NEOS it is clear what needs to be done to counteract this negative development: for example, increased construction activity in the non-profit housing sector.
4000 apartments in 2024
“The target from the government program (4,000 apartments in 2024) will be difficult to achieve,” according to an application from NEOS. To advance the construction activity, the pink children can envision several simplifications for the non-profit real estate developers. For example, changed payment methods for annuity payments or other financial support. In any case, the goal must be a massive housing offensive. The NEOS also calls on the Vorarlberg state government to evaluate the customary local rent as a condition for entitlement to housing support.
