In this way, the Navarra Suma coalition that brought together UPN, PP and Ciudadanos in this legislature will not be re-released. The regionalist party’s executive has unanimously agreed to stand alone in the 2023 municipal and municipal elections.

Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) will stand alone in the next regional election, so the Navarra Suma coalition that brought together UPN, PP and Ciudadanos in this legislature will not be cast again.
The UPN Executive has agreed unanimous standing alone in the 2023 municipal and municipal elections, a decision which will be transferred to the Political Council and which will end the right-wing Navarra Suma coalition.
The regionalist president, Javier Esparzaannounced this Monday at a press conference after a meeting with the party executive, where it was decided to present itself under the abbreviation UPN.
Esparza: “The polls tell us we’re adding more support this time by going separately than by going together”
The coalition of three reached 20 parliamentarians in the 2019 election, although they were not enough to form a government. What he did succeed in was governing in town halls such as Pamplona and Tudela
In a press conference that also included members of the executive branch, such as Pamplona’s mayor and UPN vice president Enrique Maya, or former president Miguel Sanz, Esparza explained that going alone “gives us more social support, more alternatives and options to govern Navarre and that EH Bildu decide nothing”.
“The polls tell us that this time we will get more support going apart than going together and they tell us that going apart gives us the most options to achieve our goal, which is to lead Navarre again and that EH Bildu does not reign on this earth, that he does not decide“, he assured.
“Going alone allows us to ease the vote for thousands of moderate socialist sympathizers who don’t want any more adventures with the Basque independence movement, who don’t want deals with EH Bildu,” he indicated, at the same time assuring that “on the contrary, if we are in coalition with PP and C’s, we prefer PSN and EH Bildu”.
The Coordinator of Citizens in Navarre, Carlos Perez Nivashas deemed UPN’s decision a “political mistake” and has also been highly critical of the “forms” announcing that decision, noting that he was aware of it through the media.
Pérez-Nievas explained that he was not surprised by the decision because UPN “has been showing and behaving in a way for some time that it was seen as going to make that decision”. “It was clear that the desire to break the coalition had been visible since August,” he said.
