Investigate at the end? – Confused game of hide and seek in the advertising affair

Date:

It was an affidavit printed in the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” that pressured Markus Wallner – now nobody wants anything to do with it.

The latest developments in the cause of the advertising scandal seem rather bizarre. As reported, Governor Markus Wallner came under great pressure in April when the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten”, the flagship of russmedia, printed an affidavit from an anonymous executive. In this, the stranger claimed that Wallner had solicited advertisements in the newspaper of the Wirtschaftsbund and promised benefits in return. Wallner himself always stressed that this was a “blatant lie”. He never advertised. Shortly thereafter, the governor went on extended sick leave.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA) began investigating – including against Wallner. But now it gets bizarre, because nobody knows who printed the affidavit by the “UN” – except the newspaper itself, of course. However, the administrator’s name is protected by editorial secret. And so the WKStA is looking for the man whose statement started the whole thing in the first place and who is now uncontactable. Although a manager was questioned, he denies making the statement.

Curved optics
The optics also seem somewhat skewed compared to russmedia, because the company itself profited from the illustrious advertising business. But the fact that Wallner was and is listed as a suspect by the WKStA is due to the media company in Schwarzach. It is now assumed that the WKStA could soon stop its investigations.
