The Minister of Health is not alone
Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) was not alone. The decision was taken in several phases around the turn of the year. Rauch had informed the top government that after three years of the pandemic, due to the high immunization of the population during the vaccination and contagion, a switch to regular operations was responsible. Virtually all experts would see it this way, the Vaccination Commission, the Gecko Commission, now operational at the Ministry of Health, and last but not least the assessment of German scientist Christian Drosten provided fact-based turbo for this decision.
All measures will be canceled before the summer at the latest
Because of this situation, talks with Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and Health Minister Rauch followed in December and early January in the run-up to the exam. It has been agreed with Chancellor Nehammer and ÖVP club boss August Wöginger that the Covid Measures Act will expire this year. The relevant regulations will become invalid or expire. Usually by summer at the latest. “Corona measures are not an end in themselves, they should be abolished when they are no longer needed,” said Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
Nehammer: “Everyone can protect themselves”

Gecko Commission will continue to monitor
