The arrest took place in Miranda de Ebro, Burgos. The operation is still ongoing and the search of the address of the detainee is ongoing. The US Embassy in Madrid was one of the places to receive a fireworks envelope last November.

The National Police arrested a 74-year-old man on Wednesday Miranda deEbro (Burgos) for sending letters containing pyrotechnic material to the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez; to the embassies of Ukraine and the US; and to Secretary of Defense Margarita Robles, among others, between November and December 2022.
The investigation is open, although police sources have indicated he is the only suspect in those shipments.
A total of six envelopes containing explosives were sent and one person, a Ukrainian embassy security guard, was injured by the explosion of one of the devices.
Although the hypothesis was considered that these letters came from pro-Russian groups, police today arrested a 74-year-old man, a resident of Miranda de Ebro and of Spanish descent, accused of sending these letters. The National Court has announced that it will appear in court next Friday.
