Already halfway through the year, the federal government’s corona laws would no longer apply in Austria – but exactly what the exit should look like remained unclear until the end. However, according to government circles, the timetable for the measures to be taken will be presented on Wednesday.
It should be determined which crisis measures end at what time or can be transferred to the regular health system, it said. This mainly relates to vaccination options, testing and provision of COVID-19 medication. Further details were not available Tuesday afternoon.
Illness is no longer notifiable
Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) had already announced in mid-January that all Corona laws and regulations would be abolished this year. Corona should no longer be a notifiable disease, it said. The regulations are likely to fall in the first half of the year, the minister said at the time.
Out for “don’t misunderstand” laws
Shortly afterwards, however, he warned against misunderstandings about the end of all Corona laws he announced: “Corona will stay,” he said in an APA interview a week ago. He also called for the Covid booster vaccinations to be picked up and for the vulnerable to continue to be protected. At the same time, he stressed that it was about dealing with the situation – but not in crisis mode.
