The Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Office, Alejandro Luzón, has agreed to open an investigation procedure against analyze the emergency contracts of the government of Pedro Sánchez included in the complaint lodged by the People’s Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Madrid.
In a seven-page decree, the Chief Prosecutor declares that the facts denounced are “of special importance” and for which he is initiating proceedings to clarify them, thus opening an investigation for each of the seven “alleged-beneficiaries” ” businesses. Luzón recalls that on March 10, the complaint of the PP spokesperson in the Assembly was submitted to that specialized prosecutor’s office in which he pointed out “irregularities that, according to him, existed in the emergency contracts, related to covid-19” and formalized by the General Government and the institutional public sector, as well as other irregularities affecting contracts and the award of government grants.
After detailing 13 contracts worth more than 320 million eurosexplains Anticorrupción that the common thread in the statement of the facts that make up the irregularities being charged is “the companies that have been awarded the contract, regardless of the awarding body.”
It adds that the irregularities described are essentially the relationship of each of the companies with the different administrations and the lack of control over the conformity of the minimum requirements for the formalization of the contracts.
