Ang Aragonese President, Javier Lambánis straightforward in ensuring that Aragón will “not participate” or “allow the candidacy to continue” for the 2030 Winter Olympics to be held in Pirineo if the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Government of Spain they do not accept the Aragonese approach for the distribution of evidence between this community and Catalonia.
In his speech on the institutional action to celebrate Aragon Day in Huesca, Lambán reiterated the Olympic candidacy and the meeting to be held in Madrid on Monday of Minister of Education and Culture, Felipe Faci, including representatives of the COE, Generalitat and Government of Spain.
At that meeting, Aragon will defend its proposal for the distribution of tests and venues, an alternative to the one drawn up by the commission overseeing the making of the technical proposal, already endorsed by the Catalan and Spanish governments and by COE. itself but Aragon refuses considering that within it, Aragon and Catalonia are not “on equal status” and clearly benefit the Catalan Pyrenees.
At Monday’s meeting, Faci, in a way that is “correct”, “democratic” and “peaceful”, but “completely stable and resonant”, will defend his approach so that both communities participate on equal terms, and if that is not accepted, Aragón will not participate or allow the candidacy to continue, Lambán warned.
The technical proposal, he insisted, does not meet the two areas presented by Lambán himself when it was proposed that Aragón participate in the candidacy: equality and fully balanced distribution of evidence.
To accept this will contribute to the “strengthening” of Aragon’s competition in terms of snow, which is Catalonia, but also not to miss the opportunity to promote Aragonese resorts around the world.
“When positions need to be taken, even those who call themselves our friends do not hesitate to take them in favor of Catalonia,” he lamented.
