Investor Siegfried Wolf has had problems with the judiciary for several years and now the investigations against him are going to the next round. In the event of a possible tax cut, it will also be tight for the tax officer who is being investigated. Because now there are two project reports from the public prosecutor’s office.
The prosecutor’s office for affairs and corruption is investigating Siegfried Wolf in the Eurofighter and Casinos Austria cases. Since the “Krone” has been confirmed by the Ministry of Justice, there are now two project reports in both cases.
It is still unclear whether Wolf will be charged
If politicians or personalities are being investigated, the prosecutor’s office must submit a plan report to the board of directors to prosecute or dismiss the case. The board of directors must approve the project. The Ministry did not disclose what the WKStA proposed for Wolf.
The investigation concerns an unusual tax reduction of 600,000 euros for the investor, worth millions from the tax authorities. There is a suspicion of bribery, in January 2022 both Wolf and the suspected tax officer were raided.
No project report on Schelling
There is currently no project report in the case of former Finance Minister Hans Jörg Schelling. He is also said to have been involved in the case, ex-ÖBAG boss Thomas Schmid sent him a WhatsApp message during his time as head of the finance department: “We reached an agreement with Sigi today. 75:25. He pays between the 7 and 8 million. is yet to be calculated. He called me several times and wanted to go back to 6. I think our financial management has made progress with this deal and both parties should be happy. He is 60 today, expensive birthday : ) :).”
In the course of the wolf chats, Schmid’s telling text to a former cabinet minister was made public: “Remember – you are hacking the ÖVP cabinet!! You are the H… for the rich!” The former president of the Court of Auditors, Franz Fiedler, was reminded of conditions such as those in the “end-time Roman Empire” in view of the alleged tax relief for Wolf following ÖVP interventions, and spoke of a “bad moral image”.
