A recent survey says that one in five can imagine an authoritarian leader. But why is that? And where are the dangers to democracy today?
Democracy and its institutions have a lot to endure. Excavations are even being attempted in some places in Europe. And general doubt and declining confidence. Also in Austria. A recent Sora Institute survey found that 80 percent believe democracy is the best form of government, and that view is the same as in 2007, but that belief was stronger then. Particularly worrying: the idea of a ‘strong leader’ is less often rejected. 22% even think you can imagine one.
