Spokespersons Jon Inarritu and María Dantas explained that “it is priceless to vote for a law that upholds articles about disobedience, disrespect for authority, the use of rubber balls and hot returns.”

Euskal Herria Bildu and Esquerra Republicana will vote against the proposed Gag Act which the government will present to the Commission today, as they believe it is far from the commitment they supposed to withdraw it.
As explained by the spokespersons Jon Inarritu and Maria Dantas in the Congress of Deputies, the government is not going to repeal this law with the proposed proposal, but rather plans to “weight down” it. They affirm that it is prohibitively expensive for them to pass a standard that “enforces fines for disobedience and disrespect for authority, the use of rubber bullets or the immediate return of migrants”.
Inarritu states that EH Bildu “will not be responsible for a ‘Light Gag Law'”. In turn, Dantas added that the proposed proposal “will continue to allow the police to violate the rights of all citizens with impunity.”
