EH Bildu argues for its own employee status and criticizes the employers’ “hegemonic discourse”.

Date:

The Coalition presented its document ‘Basics for an Entrepreneurial Industrial Policy’ at an event in the Euskalduna Bilbao in which the Program Director, Pello Otxandiano, and Bizkaia’s General Delegate candidate, Iker Casanova, participated.

EH Bildu presented his document on Tuesday ‘Basis for an entrepreneurial industrial policy’ in which he advocates defining a workers’ status “on a Basque scale”, criticizes current corporate organizations with a “hegemonic discourse” that is not “the only one in this country”, and proposes a ‘Basque business model’ with greater employee participation and that does not link “a competitive environment” with “a low tax burden”.

In addition, it proposes measures to promote the embedding of businesses, with the establishment of “incentive mechanisms”, but also “dissuasive mechanisms”, which prevent their relocationthrough conditions in the subsidies, refunds of aid or regulation of land sales.

EH Bildu presented his paper at an event in Euskalduna Bilbao where the program director, Otxandian hairand the candidate for deputy general of Bizkaia, Iker Casanovaaccompanied by key representation from the Sovereign Party, including its General Coordinator, Arnaldo Otegior the parliamentary spokesman and candidate for deputy general of Gipuzkoa, Maddalena Iriarte.

In his speech, Otxandiano stressed that “there is no industrial policy worthy of the name” in the Basque Country because “industrial weight, roots and leading companies in strategic sectors” are being lost. “There is no vision for the future and no leadership to pursue an active industrial policy,” he lamented.

The EH Bildu leader stressed that the so-called ‘Basque business model’ operating “in this country has insufficient social projection or insufficient recognition and support from public institutions”.

“The corporate hegemonic discourse is not the only thing that exists”

In this sense, he has criticized “the hegemonic corporate discourse, which is not the only thing that exists in this country”. “We believe there is a huge corporate fabric that is unidentified with many of the ideas disseminated by large corporate organizations, strongly aligned with a particular ideology, and seeking to influence government policy in ways that are inconsistent with them.” he indicated. .

The formation asks for control instruments’, given the cases of waste and/or corruption in some grants.” Another proposal is to promote public procurement for industrial development “regulating the conditions for public entities to allocate part of their resources to strategic public procurement”.

Faced with the challenge of promoting the entrenchment of businesses, he believes that “incentive mechanisms” should be put in place, but also “deterrents” to prevent their displacement (conditions for grants, aid refunds, regulation of land sales, etc.)”.

EH Bildu defends creating “A Basque Framework for Industrial Relations” which allows institutions and social actors to “define a ‘Workers’ Statute’ at the Basque level with consolidation of workers’ fundamental labor rights.

This, according to the document, would also allow collective bargaining to develop “without interference from government cadres” in terms of employment; and have employment services “with their own and exclusive capabilities in designing active and passive policies and in lifelong learning policies”; or promote their own law on freedom of association. It is also determined to start the debate over the reduction of the working day when pilot tests of 32 hours are carried out.
