The Greens are still in the federal government as junior partners. Your polls are still in the basement. And the FPÖ is the main beneficiary of the SPÖ dispute. Political scientist Fabian Habersack, who works at the University of Innsbruck, knows why the eco-party is currently unpopular.
The Greens are not going anywhere, either at the federal or state level. The polls for the National Council election are well below the 2019 result and there were also no major successes in the previous state elections. Climate change is more present than ever, but the Greens cannot score points with climate policy at the moment – although the ÖVP and SPÖ have shot each other in the knee with one scandal after another. The fact that the Greens have their own scandal involving WKStA investigations against Innsbruck’s BM Georg Willi doesn’t make things any easier. Political scientist Fabian Habersack from the University of Innsbruck analyzes the situation.
