The left-wing parties and environmentalists must be the first opposition force in the French parliamentary elections. This was expressed by the representative of the Europe Ecology-Berdeak party from Iparralde and chosen by Baiona Mixel Esteban in statements for the “Goiz Kronika” program of Euskadi Irratia. Esteban has emphasized that “the union between the left and the environmentalists is the only way forward. Citizens realize that the extreme right is advancing in the French state and in Ipar Euskal Herria, and that if we don’t go against it, only right-wing liberalism against the extreme right will remain”.
Esteban has reached out to members of the nationalist coalition EH Bai in the three constituencies corresponding to Ipar Euskal Herria. “Mélenchon’s attitude is not favorable for Basque, but like political negotiations are urgent, things like this can be agreed upon. We are environmentalists who are in favor of the Basque language, it can be negotiated, but today is the time to unite urgently.”
