PSE-EE accuses PP of using women as “exchange currency” to rule

The general secretary of the PSE-EE of Gipuzkoa, José Ignacio Asensio, accused the PP this Saturday of use women “as means of payment” to stay in power alongside the far right”.

Asensio made this statement during a flower offering organized in San Sebastián by the youth of his party for the image of the lawyer, politician and writer Clara Campoamorin commemoration of the 50th anniversary of death of this champion of women’s rights, the PSE-EE said in a note.

The event, attended by the government sub-delegate in Gipuzkoa, Guillermo Echenique, and the regional delegate for culture, Harkaitz Millán, was also attended by the PSE-EE’s Equality Secretary, Patricia Campelo, and the secretary. General of Youth JSE-Egaz, Víctor Trimiño.

During his speech, José Ignacio Asensio assured that the fight for the rights of women defended by Clara Campoamor is experiencing a “very delicate” moment because of the PP and Vox, for which he has called for “every day” to defend equality and freedom.

“We are in a very delicate and dangerous moment” because right and ‘far right’ form governments and their “currency is women,” stressed the socialist leader, who has warned of the “unbearable setbacks” he believes are taking place “in the achievements and rights achieved by women in 40 years of democracy”.

After insisting that the Clara Camponamor’s “fight” is currently “more necessary than ever”Asensio criticized the announcement of the coalition government between PP and Vox in Castilla y León “to turn the fight against domestic violence into law”.
