To this end, he explained that he will continue to take steps “to acquire areas of sovereignty and deepen the cooperation of the citizens of all Basque territories”.

Gure Esku, on the eve of his tenth birthday, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring Euskal Herria’s future is decided “by referendum”. This was conveyed in a statement made public at the Itsasargia International Conference in Ficoba (Irun).

In the law, in which local and international experts participated, the representatives of Gure Esku stressed the need to “acquire sovereign spaces and deepen the cooperation of the citizens of all Basque territories”.

Iñaki Soto (Gara), Ferran Casas (Nacio Digital), Maria Obelleiro (Nós Diario), Richard Walker (The National) Patricia Mac Bride (The Future of Ireland), Elena Jimenez (Omnium Cultural), Maggie Lennon (Women for Independence) and Josu Etxaburu (Gure Esku) participated in the conference, and spokesman Josu Etxaburu and lawyer Irantzun Perello spoke in the afternoon.

They underlined that Gure helped Esku in “creating a favorable environment for the right to decide“, and who have contributed to “creating common ground and improving coexistence”.

At the gates of the tenth anniversary, they explained the reflections made by the members of Gure Esku during the process they have also dubbed Itsasargia. For example, they have emphasized that their work is based on three pillars: “The right to decide on the political future through a referendum, the process of win spaces of sovereignty and cooperation of the citizenship of all Basque territories”.

Perello has said that one of the “keys” will be “take sovereign steps and build sovereign spaces“.

Likewise, they have shown themselves willing to organize mobilizations in that direction, with the aim of activating citizens, and they will try to make the socio-political majority more decisive in this.
