The former chairman of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont will not stand for re-election as chairman of Junts at the congress that the party will hold on June 4 in Argelers (France).
“Now I think it is necessary that the party has a new presidency. That it participates permanently in the board meetings, that it participates in funds for the political decisions to be made. Therefore, I will not present my candidacy for the renewal of the presidency of the party, although I will like it very much and I will be honored to be able to personally say goodbye as president, by your side,” he said in a letter to the militants.
In the letter, he assures Junts is his party and announces that the board has agreed to convene the training congress on June 4, in which the new leadership will be elected.
Now the candidatures for the presidency must be submitted for next Tuesday.
