It’s about real estate deals – in short: Corruption hunters rely on new key witnesses

Date:

It is still unclear whether there will be an indictment against ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz. According to pollster Sabine Beinschab and ex-ÖBAG boss Thomas Schmid with his ill-fated mobile phone chats, the prosecutor’s office for affairs and corruption should now bring a new star witness against former chancellor Sebastian Kurz into play.

According to legal sources, it is the former head of the Austrian Integration Fund. Ironically, Kurz fired him when he was still a young Secretary of State for Integration over dubious real estate deals.

The WKStA has been investigating the director of the ÖIF for almost 10 years
In any case, the WKStA has been investigating the ousted ÖIF director for breach of trust for almost a decade. So far there have been 16 raids and more than 10 suspects. According to the Court of Auditors, these are ÖIF apartments that have been sold far too cheaply. Now the main suspect should accuse the ex-ÖVP boss in the form of surveys or advertisements. And so walk free as a key witness to your own alleged crimes.

It gets serious for Karmasin: the judge will rule on Tuesday
Meanwhile, the trial against former Minister of Family Affairs Sophie Karmasin (ÖVP) is coming to an end. The judge will rule in the grand jury chamber on Tuesday. She is suspected of bid fixing.

By colluding with other colleagues, she would have managed to get study contracts from the Ministry of Sports. Another charge is fraud. Karmasin allegedly received unlawful continued payments after she left politics by not telling the Federal Chancellery that she would continue her self-employed activity after her term as minister – it is about 80,000 euros. Crown witness Sabine Beinschab, who also plays a role in the investigation against Sebastian Kurz, has heavily accused Karmasin.
