The XI Legislature of Parliament of Navarre It started this Friday with the holding of the constituent session of the Chamber, in which Geroa Bai’s candidate, Unai Hualde, was elected Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. As planned, it received the support of PSN, Geroa Bai, EH Bildu and Contigo Navarra.
UPN has submitted Iñaki Iriarte’s candidacy for president and has received the support of his peers, as well as PPN parliamentarians. The two Vox representatives voted blank. In total, Unai Hualde has obtained 30 votes, while Iñaki Iriarte has obtained 18.
After the appointment of the Speaker of Parliament, the two Vice-Presidents and the two Secretaries are elected. In this case, with the entry into force of Parliament’s new regulations, since the president is male, the first vice-presidency and first secretary will fall to women, and the other two vacant posts to men.
The session started at 11am and was chaired by the oldest MP, Emilio Jiménez, of Vox, and the two youngest, Kevin Lucero, of PSN, and Irati Jiménez, of EH Bildu, assisted him as secretaries.
The Chamber, which consists of 50 MPs, will have seven groups: UPN (15 MPs), PSN (11), EH Bildu (9), Geroa Bai (7), PP (3), Contigo Navarra (3) and Vox ( 2) that it goes to the Mixed Group because they don’t get 3 seats.
The election of a president from Geroa Bai to parliament was part of the agreement reached between the PSN and the nationalist coalition in the context of the negotiations on the formation of the government in Navarre.

If, after a period of three months from the holding of the elections to the Parliament of Navarre (May 28), no candidate has been presented or none of those presented have been elected, the Parliament will be dissolved and new elections will be called immediately. .
