Anti-Corruption is taking over the case of the alleged vote-buying scheme in Melilla

According to the attorney general, the requirements of the law to take up the case have been met, because of the “seriousness and significance from a social and political point of view”.

The Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, has given the order anti-corruption deal with the case of the alleged plot of buying votes in Melilla, for its “seriousness and significance from a social and political point of view”. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the requirements of the law are met to deal with the case.

“Assuming the facts are an expression of delinquency or organized crime, taking into account their seriousness and importance from a social and political point of view (…) it is estimated that the assumptions underlying the attribution of jurisdiction for the transmission of the case the Public Prosecution Service once said. Special,” the public prosecutor explained.

As the decree of the Attorney General indicates, this fact could be constitutive electoral crimesbut also of embezzlement, subterfuge, bribery and document forgery.

It should be remembered that the National Police released nine individuals allegedly involved in this alleged plot that they arrested at the time. Those arrested would be linked to the local government’s majority party, Coalition for Melilla.
