The general coordinator of the coalition in Euskadi, Pilar Garrido, believes that not speaking with EH Bildu and Elkarrekin Podemos goes against “the Basque social majority”. He rules out supporting the socialist Maider Etxebarria in Vitoria if she goes with the PNV: “We already know who decides.”

The General Coordinator of Elkarrekin Podemos (EP), Pilar Garridohas asked PSE-EE “courage at least to sit down and talk” to form progressive governments in town halls and county councils after the 28 million elections, and hopes that “don’t go back to the right”, to the PNV and the PP, in support of “the policies that have failed and the citizens have punished”.
In an interview for the program “Boulevard” on Radio Euskadi, Garrido assured that after the elections, in many cases give the numbers to form progressive and left-leaning governments” and to make “change” happen. In his view, creating “different policies to make access to housing a right, to strengthen primary care or to introduce progressive tax reform in Gipuzkoa” happens to have one progressive government. “Never, and the PSE-EE knows it, neither the PNV nor the PP will.”
In this sense, the leader of the purple coalition has differentiated the attitude of the PSOE in Madrid from that of the socialist federation in Euskadi. “There, and I see that – she is a delegate in Congress – the PSOE, EH Bildu and even ERC sit down to talk and negotiate, and sometimes agreements are reached and sometimes not,” he explained. For Garrido, the fact that the Basque socialists are not considering a change of government, “with which it falls and with the wear and tear of the PNV” is at odds with the “Basque social majority”.
