Completely unexpectedly, Ferdinand Sablatnig, former member of the state parliament and club president of the Carinthian People’s Party, passed away on Sunday night.
He was a state deputy and was always involved as a politician for his home district of Hermagor. “Ferdinand Sablatnig is the father of the Gailtal feeder. It is thanks to him that people became aware of regional public transport connections,” recall Martin Gruber, Deputy Governor (VP), and his team.
For 15 years – some of them as club president – Ferdinand Sablatnig was active for the People’s Party in the Carinthian state parliament. “I got to know Ferdinand Sablatnig as an honest, prudent and hard-working politician,” says ÖVP club president Markus Malle as one of his successors.

Sablatnig passed away on Sunday night at the age of 76. He was found dead in a hotel room in Pula (Croatia). There he was part of an excursion by officials of the state government of Carinthia.
