Criticism from the opposition – operating assistants at the limit: “That’s a pity!”

Date:

As reported, surgical assistants at the Innsbruck clinic are extremely critical of the current work environment. “There has been no regular operating room for months, we are at the limit, so the system will collapse,” it said. This caused strong reactions from the Tyrolean opposition parties FPÖ and List Fritz.

FPÖ-LA Patrick Haslwanter reacted “shocked” to the “Tiroler Krone” report: “It is a shame how the staff are treated. On the one hand, the importance of the medical staff is always emphasized, but at the same time we complain about the lack of staff – on the other hand, apparently everything is done to make the daily work as unattractive as possible for the employees.”

FPÖ: Who is responsible for this?
He therefore calls for a “sustainable reform process” and a “transparent error analysis” in the Innsbruck clinic. “We want to know why the situation for employees and patients has deteriorated so much and who is responsible for this,” Haslwanter emphasizes. In addition, it must be immediately ensured that the work agreement is complied with “to the point and comma”.

And: “Günter Weiss, head of Internal Medicine II, drew attention to the precarious situation in March. Apparently nothing has happened since then,” he said.

“Ongoing Employee Savings”
The official reports also touch List Fritz faction chairman LA Andrea Haselwanter-Schneider: “It is clear that in the past the nursing department did not take care of these important employees. The administrative apparatus has blown up over the years, but in nursing or in the operating room has been constantly cut back on staff. The clinic does not need new directors, but satisfied employees.”

Overtime hours are piling up, vacations cannot be consumed more and more often. The clinic is missing surgical assistants who have been retiring for months because they demand changeover time and the like. “I submitted a written question about that last Thursday,” she announces.

What annoys the politician in particular: “The clinic has a departure of more than 100 million euros and yet it saves on employees.” Regional councilor Cornelia Hagele (ÖVP) must immediately take action for both politicians.
