The Green Provincial Councilor Stefan Kaineder had a more than unpleasant experience at Linz Central Station on Saturday afternoon. When he went down the pedestrian tunnel, he was doused with a liquid, probably a drink, from a height of about three meters and verbally assaulted.
Provincial councilor Kaineder got off on Saturday afternoon at platform 7 in Linz and descended into the feeder tunnel. Suddenly he was doused with a liquid from above. When the Green politician, stunned by the attack, looked up, he was also insulted. Kaineder informed the police.
“It was an intentional pour”
Green press spokesman Herbert Voraberger confirmed the incident to the “Krone”, saying: “We didn’t even talk about what he was actually doused with. The only thing that is certain is that it was an intentional donation, it was not an accident. Apparently it was not an accident. Kaineder should have been recognized as a politician. He wasn’t worried about his own safety, but called the police if there were more incidents.”
Politicians are always the target of criticism. Fortunately, physical attacks on state politicians in Upper Austria are not the rule, but the exception.
