Interview “Krone” – Ex-Chancellor Kurz: “I co-financed the film”

Date:

With a surprising – ironic – confession, Sebastian Kurz makes people sit up and pay attention in an exclusive interview that ‘Krone’ journalist Conny Bischofberger conducted with the accused ex-chancellor for the Sunday edition.

After more than 700 guests came to the premiere of “Kurz – der Film” on Wednesday, there was speculation that he or the people around him had financially supported the production.

Kurz now admits: “I co-financed the film!” However, he is referring to the ORF documentary “Project Ballhausplatz”, which will be released in cinemas on September 21: “I pay the GIS fee and taxes, and then the ORF and the city of Vienna and the Republic financed the anti-ÖVP film by Mr. Langbein, I am a co-financier.”

Renowned documentary maker Kurt Langbein also asked Kurz for interviews. Conny Bischofberger wanted to know why he refused: “Most filmmakers have an opinion, but at least try to appear objective.”

ORF director Langbein “not democratic
On his homepage, the director writes that “we have led the country to the brink of democracy and the seizure of power. It seems it was illegal. Not a word about the fact that we were democratically elected. With such an understanding of democracy, I had little desire to participate in it,” Kurz said.

The former ÖVP leader, who will appear in court on October 18, also comments on a possible political comeback. In the interview he goes into detail about it and provides a small surprise.

You can read this and much more on Sunday in the “Krone” and on Krone+.
