Much criticism of Sager – Apologies Nehammer: Viruses worry him

Date:

“So much in a small room also means so many viruses – but now we don’t care anymore” – Chancellor Karl Nehammer does not want to leave this much-criticized salute from the ÖVP party conference in Graz in the room on Saturday.

Nehammer says the participants in the federal party conference understood his messages about Corona and explains: “The pandemic is not over yet, it just gives us a breather. Protecting yourself and your fellow human beings is and will remain the highest priority.”

“Let emotions run wild”
How did the oft-quoted saying come about? Nehammer: “At the beginning of my speech I let my emotions run free in the joy that we can be together again after more than two years of restrictions.” We must of course remain vigilant. “Because the virus has hit us with a lot of force and violence. It remains dynamic and will remain with us for a long time.”

And the chancellor is remorseful: “If my lavish welcome at the start of the event irritated people, I would like to offer my sincere apologies.”

When do the masks fly?
The National Council is today discussing the obligation to wear masks, which will continue to accompany us until July 8 – including for some 130,000 employees in the retail sector – in the supermarket, hospital or bank. Parliament is debating whether it will survive this summer. The announcements from the opposition and experts are clear – the only one who remains vague is the health minister.
