EH Bildu calls on PSE and PNV to provide a single interpretation of the amendment, as they contradict each other

The program director of EH BilduPello Otxandiano, appeared this morning to comment on the last-minute agreement between PSE-EE and PNV regarding the partial corrections of the Education Bill. In concrete terms, both decided ‘in extremis’ to agree Basque and Spanish are vehicle languages.

“Clearly there is one script change, as none of the texts we have covered over the past two and a half years makes any mention of linguistic models. That is why we ask Jeltzals and socialists to take action joint interpretationto break with the contradictions that we value,” he indicated. “They are there opposing versions. On the one hand, socialists are convinced that current language models will be maintained. On the other hand, Bildarratz has said that they must be renewed and modified, and that the amendment gives rise to this,” said Pello Otxandiano.

Thus, they must provide a common appearance and a single interpretation of the correction, “coherent and complete.”

“Language models do not guarantee that students will master two languages ​​at the end of their education. A different approach is needed, and that is all that was on the table,” he concluded.

Bildarratz says each center will evolve from current models

The Minister of Education of the Basque Government, Jokin Bildarratz, has pointed out that the current language models, established forty years ago, “do not respond” to the current needs of educational centers or to today’s sociolinguistic reality.
