The public company ANIMSA, owned by 179 local entities in Navarra, has faced a cyber-attack on its information systems that has led to the demise of some of its services, such as email, municipal websites or electronic offices.
The incident took place this Wednesday and from the first moment, as reported in a statement, they have taken the necessary measures in conjunction with the National Cryptologic Center (CCN) to stop it immediately and prevent its spread.
From then on, work is underway to restore services as soon as possible, the public company maintains, adding that at the same time, the facts have been brought to the attention of the competent authorities and the corresponding investigation has been carried out.
Everything seems to indicate that these are two ransomware attacks launched from a server in Lithuania (Hive and Cobalt Strike), a type of cyber attack that consists of penetrating a system and encrypting it.
