Start of the election campaign – “I am overwhelmed”: Tursky has 91.9% behind him

Date:

There was a euphoric mood at the ÖVP city party conference on Friday evening in Innsbruck: 162 delegates came and 91.9 percent chose State Secretary Florian Tursky as boss. He is expected to dethrone BM Georg Willi (Greens) in the next elections in the Tyrolean capital.

Tursky said in his speech that he had participated in fifteen election campaigns in this city and was part of a divided world within the ÖVP. In 2012 the division became larger. “Since 2018, we have seen that this division must end once and for all.” Before the elections, the current State Secretary asked for “support for the next twelve years. Let’s go for a new Innsbruck!”

Then the vote took place and the delegates took action. Tursky received 91.9 percent of the votes: “I’m overwhelmed!” he said in his first response. This sign will be heard. A new era is dawning in Innsbruck. Tursky’s four alternates received between 89.5 and 95.1 percent. Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Franz Jirka, federal councilor Klara Neurauter, BO Helena Söhnele and municipal councilor Birgit Winkel were elected deputy city party leaders.

One of the first to congratulate is VP state party chairman Anton Mattle: “Florian Tursky has the necessary skills and qualities to unite the bourgeois camp behind him, carry out the office of mayor professionally and thus help the city of Innsbruck move forward again.”
