THE PSOE admits it is difficult to celebrate this week

Date:

Although it is still possible from a material point of view, by greatly adapting the procedure, socialist sources already rule out that possibility and although they do not speak of specific dates, they point to next week as a feasible scenario to go to the Congress of Deputies for the investiture session.

PSOE and Junts continue to negotiate an agreement in Brussels for the re-election of Pedro Sánchez as president of the government and they trust it conclude the pact the next few days. However, they already admit that, according to negotiating sources, it is difficult to hold the plenary session of the investiture this week.

At this point, both parties are committed to safeguarding the law have no cracks and can pass the parliamentary procedure and the investigation to which the Constitutional Court is expected to subject it, as the opposition has already announced that they will resort to the norm.

At least that is what the sources consulted claim the negotiations are going well and the agreement can become reality at any time. However, as the days have passed, the deadlines for holding the plenary session of the investiture this week have become more complicated, even though this was the Socialists’ original plan.

Although it is still materially possible, the procedure is being significantly adjusted, socialist sources have already reported remove that option and while they don’t talk about specific dates, they do point to them next week as a viable scenario to go to the Congress of Deputies for the investiture session.

So the talks are still ongoing and will continue in the coming hours. The Socialist delegation that has been in Brussels since last Sunday, led by the Secretary of the Organization, Santos Cerdán, has extended its stay for another day and plans to remain in the Belgian capital until a final agreement is reached.

The dialogue between the two sides is proceeding at a slow pace due to the dynamics of the negotiations, the sources cited above said. There is a constant exchange of papers that the legal teams have to go through for hours and therefore the process is delayed. According to what they indicate, the last document was handed over to the Junts by the PSOE last night and they are currently waiting for a response.

As reported from the negotiations, discussions are currently focused on ensuring that the the law is legally “impeccable”that has no cracks and can therefore pass the parliamentary process and the constitutional filter without any problems.
