In a institutional statement Iñigo Urkullu, published in Irekia, has “strongly” condemned the incidents of recent days in front of the PSOE headquarters in Madrid, caused by “groups of fascist ideology” and promoted “by political and social sectors that claim to defend democracy.”
Iñigo Urkullu has also warned that “those who have been fueling these confrontational attitudes for years they are accomplices of what is happening,” referring to the PP. “They are jointly responsible and they are irresponsible,” he added.
“The condemnation of violence must be clear and resounding, without half measures, without excuses or justifications,” he stressed.
In his opinion, in this situation there is only two options: “foster populism, manipulation, violence and an authoritarian system or defend representative democracy, respect for plurality and institutions.” In this context, he stressed that “we must save Euskadi from this climate of tension and confrontation.”
