Major investigation – Doskozil is back in the political ring with high motivation

Date:

Strengthened by strong research results, it is already clear to the governor of Burgenland that he will stand for election and remain in office for another period.

No other SPÖ politician was as in the spotlight this year as Hans Peter Doskozil. After the tough battle for party leadership within the Social Democrats, he turned his back on federal politics.

Doskozil as doer
The federal party conference under Andreas Babler took place without him. In Burgenland, Doskozil has always gone his own way and as a doer he has consistently followed his course of political reform.

Candidacy in state elections
At the start of the new week, he maps out the SPÖ’s Pannonian route for the coming months and years. In short, Doskozil will not only run for the 2025 state elections, but also run for another term as governor of the state.

In making these decisions, he refers to a representative survey by Peter Hajek Public Opinion Strategies GmbH, the results of which are now available. According to this, 70 percent of Burgenlanders would vote for Doskozil in a direct election of the state governor.

14 percent would go to ÖVP state chairman Christian Sagartz, eleven to FPÖ chairman Alexander Petschnig, four percent to the new Green Party leader Anja Haider-Wallner and one percent to Christoph Schneider of the Neos.

Better state governor than federal leader of the SPÖ
“I am incredibly grateful for the great trust that the people of Burgenland have not only in me, but also in my government team,” Doskozil emphasizes. In times of ubiquitous crises, it is rare that you receive so much support as a political leader.

“Valuable capital”
“This is extremely valuable capital that must be handled responsibly,” he says. After all, 26 percent of the population considers it “very positive” that Doskozil did not become federal leader of the SPÖ, but remained governor of the state.

35 percent said “somewhat positive.” 16 percent are ‘somewhat negative’ and seven percent are ‘very negative’. 16 percent don’t know. Naturally, the share of SPÖ voters is considerably higher. 91 percent are in favor of the state governor and have a positive mood.

Inflation and migration are hot topics
The work of the state government was also rated as good or very good by 63 percent. On behalf of the state parliament club SPÖ, 1,000 people from Burgenland were questioned. “The fluctuation range is 3.1 percent,” it says.

Above all, inflation and migration are the most important issues, followed by climate protection, employment and health. Doskozil draws his lessons from this and sees a clear mission: “The residents of Burgenland are of course aware that the coalition with the population is our top priority and that we take every step to improve everyone’s lives. It will remain that way.”
