Time-wasting accusation – Turquoise week in U-Commission sparks quarrel

Date:

Political influence and networks in the judiciary? The People’s Party wants to refute it. The opposition opposes it.

It’s a turquoise week. Or rather, it’s two days: Tuesday and Wednesday. The ÖVP decided on the issue of justice. Group leader Andreas Hanger mentions the central themes. Political influence on investigations. Alleged black networks and disputes in the judiciary. WKStA vs OStA/”SOKO Tape” – hard bandage.

“There was no political influence or networking. So far, all those who have provided information have said so under the obligation to tell the truth,” Hanger said. SPÖ, NEOS and FPÖ as well as the Greens see it differently. They see the suspended section head Christian Pilnacek and the Vienna Chief Public Prosecutor Johann Fuchs as a kind of axis of evil within the judiciary.

FPÖ faction leader Christian Hafenecker: “It’s a week of ÖVP tactics. Only there to burn appointments.” But the thick boards are still being drilled. The regular new allegations of corruption are said to show how important “the political hygiene committee” is. Hanger, on the other hand, sees political influence from the Green Justice Minister Alma Zadić. “She gave instructions about the suspension from Fuchs. That has been withdrawn.”

House searches and suspension disputes
Criminal law professor Susanne Reindl-Krauskopf, a member of the advisory council that “determined the insignificance of the suspension” (Hanger), will be questioned on Wednesday. The appearance of legal protection officer Gabriele Aicher is eagerly awaited, who announced her resignation after public criticism of the WKStA director. Among other things, Aicher had questioned house searches by the WKStA at embellished investigations. She was advised by the law firm Ainedter, which in this case represents an ÖVP person.

Section head Barbara Göth-Flemmich, among others, was invited on Tuesday. After the division of the Criminal Law section, she became head of the investigation of the prosecution’s project reports because of continued criticism of Pilnacek. This is also a dispute within the judiciary.

Blacks are demanding red chats again
A red lump is hard for the blacks to digest: 1800 SPÖ chats. Hence the way to the Constitutional Court. Hanger: “The minister is needed.” Zadić points out that it is up to the parties to determine the order of chat evaluation. On Monday, she formulated the important concerns during an event in the Palace of Justice. Stricter anti-corruption law. And more staff.
