This has been indicated by Sánchez, in an appearance this Thursday in the plenary session of Congress, to report on the political crisis caused by the espionage with the ‘Pegasus’ systemwhich affected dozens of Catalan pro-independence political leaders as well as members of their executive branch, leading to the resignation of Paz Esteban as director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI).
At the beginning of his speech, Sánchez discussed the cases of corruption and embezzlement in recent years related to the PP. In addition, he has claimed that the Spanish government has always cooperated with the justice system and underlined its “commitment to democratic regeneration”.
Sánchez stressed that “it is clear that from 2015 to 2020, with the declaration of independence, the sabotage, the fires in Barcelona in 2019, the crisis was a source of national security concern“That is why the proposed services and the judge have agreed on the appropriate measures. The government does not know, certainly does not know about operational decisions. It may have happened with other governments, but with this government I guarantee you that it has not happened and neither will happen.”
There is no political reasonno reason to say that they can protect the suspension of fundamental rights outside the law. My rejection of any illegal practice,” he said.
The Spanish president has criticized the citizen lab reportwhich he said in the same report “recognises the impossibility of definitively attributing the hacking operations to a specific entity”.
