Andreas Kollross, member of the Social Democratic National Council and mayor of Trumau, is facing calls to resign from the ÖVP and FPÖ. The reason was a quickly deleted tweet from the SP representative, in which he thought it was a joke to muse about a ‘ius primae noctis’ for community leaders. His apology afterwards is also not enough for Women’s Minister Susanne Raab (ÖVP) and the Freedom Party.
Raab said in a broadcast addressed to the SPÖ on Saturday: “While people would otherwise vehemently demand resignation, their own party members are content with lame excuses for such disgusting statements.”
‘Victims of sexual violence mocked in the most disgusting way’
Kollross’s public statements “slightly mock victims of sexual violence and humiliate women.” The women’s minister believes that he must therefore leave office.
Liberal National Councilor Dagmar Belakowitsch said in a broadcast that the very idea of Kollross qualified him for any political office. He must therefore resign his position and remove his hat.
Babler demanded an apology
SPÖ leader Andreas Babler condemned his party colleague’s statements on Friday and demanded an apology, which followed.
