PP and Vox register their changes to the amnesty law on January 3

Date:

CC and UPN have decided not to propose changes to the entire law, although they will vote against the law. The debate and vote on these amendments will take place next week.

Next Wednesday, the Congress of Deputies will… amendments to the entire amnesty bill for the ‘process’ of Catalonia. Both Partido Popular and Vox have reported that they will register their amendments with an alternative text, allowing each to be voted on separately.

For their part, the Canary Coalition and the UPN have decided not to table amendments, although in both cases their deputies will take a position against the law when the time comes for the vote.

The deadline for reporting changes to the whole ends next Wednesday at 6 p.m.

PP and Vox have positioned themselves categorically against the bill from the start, considering it unconstitutional. However, the proposal passed its first filter during the plenary session of Congress on December 12, after receiving the support of 178 deputies during its consideration.

Once the changes are registered as a whole this Wednesday, the next step will be theirs debate and vote in plenary of the conference, which is expected to take place next week. Coincidentally, the debate will take place in the Senate facilities due to construction in the chamber. It is expected that these amendments will be rejected by the majority of Congress, formed by the PSOE, Sumar, ERC, Junts, Bildu, PNV, Podemos and BNG.

Once the changes in the whole have completed their process, The parliamentary process continues with the partial amendments. The deadline for registering these corrections expires on January 16, if the Congressional Council does not extend it.

Socialist sources emphasize that the extension of this period for partial amendments does not change the schedule they have planned for the Congress of Deputies to adopt the law at the end of January. Likewise, the PSOE would be given room to negotiate some changes to the text with Junts and ERC.
