UPN will follow the steps of a legal report to establish a new association of municipalities

Date:

The regionalists announced that they would leave the Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils and create an alternative after EH Bildu and PSN reached an agreement on the motion of censure in Pamplona. Meanwhile, PSN has registered an initiative with parliament to “reaffirm its support” for the Federation.

UPN plans to follow the steps described in a legal report commissioned by the program itself establish an alternative association to the Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils, currently chaired by Tafalla Mayor Xabier Alkuaz (EH Bildu). The regionalists announced the decision after EH Bildu and PSN agreed to a motion of censure in Pamplona.

As explained by parliamentarian and member of the Executive Committee of the UPN, Marta Álvarez, the leadership of the regionalist formation “unanimously agreed to the creation of a new association of municipalities truly democratic, which respects the plurality of Navarrein which the largest party in Navarre is not ignored but respected.

Álvarez has pointed out that the regionalist formation has commissioned “a legal report on the steps we must take, the form we must take to create this alternative association to the Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils, We already have that legal report and therefore the steps we are going to take are those set out in that legal report.”

For its part, the PSN has tabled a motion before the Navarre parliament to “reaffirm its support for the Navarre Federation of Municipalities and Councils” and urge it to “continue working to promote and defend local autonomy in Navarre.”

Socialist spokesman Ramón Alzórriz has pointed out that “it cannot be the case that an institution has over 40 years are attacked now by Javier Esparza – president of UPN – in an attempt to use it to defend himself internally on issues of his party,” he pointed out.

Also the spokesperson for Geroa BaiPablo Azcona has affirmed the value of the Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils and emphasized that it is “important that this commitment of these places is maintained because Municipalism has common interests that go beyond party political interests and the strategies that, in our opinion, are incorrect on the part of UPN to try to break the unity of action of Navarrese municipal policy, which has been maintained for more than forty years.
