In the second edition of “Club 3” in the new year 2024, “Krone” journalist Erich Vogl, Nina Tomaselli of the Greens, author Lena Schilling, “Krone” department head for economics and politics Rainer Nowak discuss the upcoming investigative committees into René Benko and COFAG , as well as Herbert Kickl and the FPÖ and whether early elections are really possible.
For Nina Tomaselli, member of the Green National Council, the best scenario for a Benko-U committee would be a “package of measures” to prevent future dramas à la SIGNA. Lena Schilling calls for clarification and “consequences”.
“FPÖ has a monopoly on protest voters”
Change of topic: How and why is Herbert Kickl always ahead in surveys? For Rainer Nowak it is clear that the FPÖ has a “monopoly” for protest voters. Tomaselli admits that if citizens can no longer pay the rent, the blue motto ‘Foreigners out’ is not a solution. After the controversial performance at the FP New Year’s meeting, Schilling demands: “We must judge Kickl more strictly.”
Will Austria vote sooner? Tomaselli believes in the original election date of September. Nowak: ‘In a democracy, let’s not be afraid of elections.’ And: for Lena Schilling, a government without the FPÖ and ÖVP would be ‘nice’.
