About 2,000 employees today expressed their anger over the stalled negotiations on the 2024 collective labor agreement for the 90,000 employees in the IT industry and protested in front of the WKÖ in Vienna.
According to the GPA trade union, the employers’ final offer was 6.25 percent of the actual salary amount and 7.25 percent of the minimum wages from the collective labor agreement. The basis for the negotiations is an annual inflation rate of 7.75 percent.
Trade unionist Teiber lacks support
GPA chief negotiator Sandra Steiner said on Wednesday: “Our current demand for an actual salary increase of 8.8 percent and 9.5 percent on minimum wages is responsible and not excessive.
GPA chairman Barbara Teiber, on the other hand, points to the high inflation in Austria and believes that companies have a duty. “Where were the employers, where was the Chamber of Commerce when we asked them to work with us to put pressure on the government?” she asks, adding: “We expected more support.”
The seventh round of negotiations will take place tomorrow, Thursday.
