Two Russian managers will testify in the short trial via video conference on Wednesday. The closing arguments will follow on February 23. The verdict is also expected on this day.
Two Russian witnesses were the strange surprises in the short trial. The two managers with addresses in Saint Petersburg, Russia, are said to have met Thomas Schmid in Amsterdam in August 2023 to discuss a job offer with him. During this meeting, Schmid, who is seeking key witness status, is said to have revealed that he had been put under pressure because of his statements.
The two Russian businessmen claimed this in an affidavit. However, an explanation on a piece of paper was not credible enough for judge Michael Radasztics.
Survey via video conference
The two cannot travel to Austria, so the managers will now testify via video conference at the Austrian embassy in Moscow. The hearing will take place Wednesday afternoon between the Grand Jury Courtroom and Moscow. If they are both credible, Schmid has a problem. The verdict in the short trial is expected on February 23.
