The lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluassured this Friday that he has not “confirmed”, “denied” anything, nor “questioned anything” regarding the Guggenheim Museum project for the Urdaibai region.

For example, he responded to a question in the plenary meeting of the Basque Parliament from the spokesperson of Elkarrekin Podemos-IU about this cultural infrastructure, for which According to Miren Gorrotxategi, there are “contradictory” positions within the PNV around this initiative. Moreover, he has chosen not to proceed with the project for ecological reasons and because it will “promote mass tourism without meeting the needs of the region”.

In his response, Urkullu emphasized that he leads the Basque government as well as himself “supporters” of “giving a real boost” to Urdaibai and Busturialdeato “generate new opportunities” in the Biscay region.

The Lehendakari also recalled that PNV and PSE-EE registered in the Basque Parliament a non-legal proposal instructing the Basque Government to implement a plan for the reactivation of the above-mentioned region, and opted for that plan because their actions “will only bring benefits to the region and the country.”
