Supply bottlenecks – Refugees from Ukraine: cries for help grow louder

Date:

Three months ago, the first refugees from Ukraine arrived. NGOs complain that the bureaucracy causes supply problems. Asylum law expert Lukas Gahleitner speaks of information shortages. “People need clarity about rules. There aren’t any.’ Payments are late. “People live on savings.”

Lack of coordination: Refugee coordinator Michael Takács tries. He is taking “mini steps” in the right direction. He needs more power and resources. At the moment, “dedicated individuals are saving”. The government is doing too little. The bureaucrats would play clerk punchball instead. “Whoever moves first loses. That is especially unworthy of a family celebration like the ÖVP.”

Germany has adapted the supply to Hartz IV. “We still don’t have a solution. Nobody knows how long the war will last and how many refugees will come.”

The NEOS support the requests for help. Asylum spokeswoman Stephanie Krisper: “The problem would be solved very quickly if Ukrainian refugees were given the same status as asylum seekers.”
