Abolishing grades, abolishing final exams, abolishing pre-scientific work, compulsory education instead of compulsory education, more autonomy and less bureaucracy – ideas for school reforms are springing up like mushrooms. The “Krone” has examined the latest proposals and spoken to experts.
The SPÖ’s statements are currently somewhat confusing. The Viennese party takes a different line than the federal party. At the federal level, the Social Democrats argue for a free choice between grades and oral assessment at primary school up to and including third grade. The Viennese comrades are in favor of abolishing grades in all primary schools up to the age of 14 – and also question the Matura.
