Exchange of blows on ORF – Basically: “Mr. Wolf, we bet it’s wrong!”

Date:

On Friday, ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz was found legally not guilty of making false statements to the Ibiza investigative committee and sentenced to an eight-month suspended prison sentence. On Monday evening, the ex-ÖVP boss answered questions from ORF presenter Armin Wolf. And as expected, a heated discussion ensued.

When Wolf presented a transcript of Kurz’s statements to the U Commission, the ex-chancellor foolishly replied, “Mr. Wolf, let’s bet it’s wrong!” Kurz also accused the ORF presenter of having “attention to details.”

“I congratulate you on your research”
But those weren’t the only moments when the two had heated discussions with each other. When Wolf confronted the ex-chancellor with the fact that he had once said in an interview that he had wrongly described a study as “graduated”, Kurz responded somewhat contritely: “If I say it like that, then I am sorry and I congratulate you with your research.”

Otherwise, just like in recent days, Kurz was by no means remorseful in the “ZiB 2” conversation. About his judgment he said: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think the decision is unfair.”

Great “Krone” interview with Kurz
Just 15 hours after the historic, non-legal verdict, Kurz spoke with Conny Bischofberger about credibility and fighting spirit, Thomas Schmid and Vladimir Putin, the support of his friends and why it is ‘business as usual’ for him until the next court hearing.
