The organizers of the demonstration have denounced “the brutal accusation that has caused many people to suffer injuries of varying degrees, some of whom have lost consciousness.”

Four people have been arrested charged with crimes of public disorder and assault on law enforcement officers in connection with the altercations recorded in Vitoria-Gasteiz during the demonstration held in memory of the victims of March 3, 1976.

Two people were arrested during the incidents during the march and two others later when they went to protest against the arrests at the Basque police station in the Lakua district.

As reported by the Ertzaintza, seven officers were injured. In addition, dozens of protesters have been injured.

The organizers of the demonstration, the Victims Association and the unions ELA, LAB, ESK and Steilas, have published a message. Thousands of people took part in the demonstration that started at 12:30 from the Zaramaga district where the events of March 3 took place, behind a banner with the slogan ‘Atzo eta gaur borrokan, Towards a just future’.

Half an hour after the start of the march, altercations broke out when a group of people participating in the demonstration on Paz Street began to shout insults and throw objects at police forces, who were part of the security apparatus established on the occasion. , as reported by the security department of the Basque government

The tension has increased and so it is police charges by Ertzaintza riot police, while some demonstrators threw stones, bottles and eggs at police.

When the tension finally passed, the demonstration ended as planned in the Plaza de los Fueros, amid shouts of “police, murderers.”
