The arrest of the former Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Egisto Ott, who allegedly obtained information for Russia, is also causing domestic political waves. The Greens are now involving the National Security Council, they announced on Friday. The NEOS call for a new meeting of the Intelligence Committee in Parliament to focus on the topic of “Russian espionage and political influence.”
Due to the current events surrounding the Marsalek case and the uncovered transfer of smartphones of three former top officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Russian secret services, the Greens demanded that the National Security Council be convened. The Chancellor must take the initiative for this; the request of a parliamentary group is sufficient.

Maurer: “FPÖ has been working for Russia for years”
“The piece by piece uncovering of Russian networks in Austria paints a frightening picture,” said Green Party representative David Stögmüller. The findings of the investigative committee into the ‘red-blue abuse of power’ also clearly showed how political parties were apparently an extension of the Kremlin and worked for Russia. Club president Sigrid Maurer was more specific: “The Strache and Kickl FPÖ have not been working for Austria for years, but in reality for Russia and its unscrupulous dictator. ‘This is a dangerous threat to our country’
NEOS: Espionage “must finally end”
NEOS security spokeswoman Stephanie Krisper also urged clarification: “It is high time for the ÖVP and the Greens to take more decisive action against espionage on Austrian territory. Spies feel that they can operate unhindered in Austria. This must end now.”
