Festival Start – Nova Rock: Silence and Noise Against the Amok Pain

Not too hot, but not cold either. At the start of the latest edition of the Nova Rock Festival there was perfect festival temperatures on Wednesday. The rain was pleasantly spread over the Pannonian steppe in the weeks before, so that the dust deserts were still fairly limited in bright sun. This time the classic four days of escapism was overshadowed – at least in the beginning – by the horrible murder storage in a school of Graz. Organizer Ewald Tatar announced on Tuesday to honor the deceased victims with a minute of commemoration. He gave a short speech for the Headliner Korn and the electricity was eliminated in the entire area. No music, no amusement park, little light – only pious silence and short memory. The following two bands will be much more difficult. The American hardcore collective makes the content and sound not so much different than many competitors, but still manages to leave a surface burn at every tour station. Frontman Bryan Garris looks like Liam Gallagher’s cousin and can also continue with a chic shirt as a WU student in the first semester, but as his shrill organ with the Brett Hard Breakdowns of the bandmen’s pair, Open Hell. The bodies sail on the first series of public and casuality celebrates a cheerful large urban cities. The ghost in has been dedicated in recent years to the search for comfort. Almost ten years ago the drummer of the band lost a leg in a bus accident, two other residents their lives. Since then everything has been different, but the power of music is constantly present. Musically the metalcore is more off the shelf, the story behind the band fits with the melancholy of the evening with the sympathetic charisma.

A moment of pause
After the Spirit Box is in the upper popularity segment with their mixture of metal and alternative rock, the Nova Rock changes in a planned minute of silence to a solidarity act with the victims of Graz. Organizer Ewald Tatar introduces with a speech and asks for the joint break. “The pain about yesterday’s incredible rampage in Graz is still very deep with all of us. As Nova Rock we now want to send a very important board together. As a reminder of the victims and their families, we now want to hold them all together with a minute of silence.” The site could not be darkened as much as planned, but the silent moment turned out to be worthy and according to the frame. The worthy conclusion provided the Nu-Metal-Heroen Korn on the Blue Podium, long-drawn Austrian guests who only filled the Viennese Meta City until the last summer.
